I want to talk about the approach of Dragon Buddha Tsa Lung Tigle practices. One aspect that I emphasize is that every thing, even if you are working with breath retention, unfolds in a relaxed and smooth way.Sometimes these practices can be seen as very complicated – where the practice may require flexibility and maybe also concentration and contraction of muscles, breath retention, visualization, etc.…which can quite often for many practitioners bring tension. But the approach of the Dragon Buddha Tsa Lung Tigle teachings is to gain the knowledge of each step so that everything can be applied in a smooth and gentle way. It is like in Chinese medicine or Neidang practice, which is connected to dragon energy – where we work to have the qi circulate in a smooth and fluid way. This is like the unfolding of the dragon.Of course the dragon can be seen in so many different ways but here I am talking about this aspect. So even with the practice of kumbaka today I see many teachers online saying - “oh you do like this, hold the breath, blah blah blah…” but in receiving teachings online like this there is so much room for error. When I teach I take each step one at a time so it is well developed and well understood – this way it can be put into action very naturally. This is something that I insist on. This is why we have the Dragon Buddha Yoga teaching and the Kuan Yin Tao Tantra before Tsa Lung. We can develop inner knowledge of proper breathing, smooth circulation of qi, and inner alignment all before we begin Tsa Lung. With the Long Life Tsa Lung we begin to learn kumbaka and pa lung and we can do so quite easily because we already have a foundation. In many yogas people think with retention you have to hold oxygen – but this is a misunderstanding of the meaning of prana. Prana is not oxygen – prana is the life force, the qi that is within the air, or within all life. So what we want to retain is the qi, the prana, not the oxygen. So if we are bringing lots of oxygen and holding with force then we are simply creating problems in our body and energy, and we will not be able to retain prana. This is why we go step by step – and this is impossible to learn without a teacher that can correct you and adjust you in each step. This is the only way you can do these practices correctly and have immediate results. Like anything it is important to establish a proper foundation. It may be fastidious at the beginning, but that investment saves you much time later on.
